This type of dentistry treats oral care from a holistic perspective, considering all aspects of health. It focuses on how your oral health affects your whole body, as well as how your body affects your oral health. At Natural Dentist Associates, we believe that your teeth are an integral part of your body and your overall health. The primary aim of Holistic Dentistry at Natural Dentist Associates is to create dental solutions while working in harmony with the rest of your body.

As a parent, naturally you are concerned about what is being put into your child’s body. You worry about vaccines and nutrition and television content and the list goes on. So why should your child’s dental treatment be any different? At Natural Dentist Associates, we do the worrying and obsessive label checking for you! Our safe and effective holistic pediatric dentistry excludes harmful materials like metals, fluoride, dyes, latex, chemicals and BPA. In addition to our focus on safe and biocompatible dental materials, our dentists have extensive experience with early diagnosis and effective treatment of growth and developmental issues which can cause major health issues when gone unnoticed/untreated. If you are looking for a natural kids dentist who values your child’s overall health as much as their oral health, we have got you covered.

Many times, a damaged tooth can be fixed with a filling, crown, or other dental treatment. However, when the damage is too severe, your dentist may recommend a tooth extraction. Some dentists may refer a patient to an oral surgeon to have a tooth extracted, but at Natural Dentist Associates, our doctors are trained and able to do most extractions on the same day as your consultation. We offer natural bone grafting services and sometimes immediate dental implant placement.

Facing a tooth extraction can be nerve-wracking and downright terrifying. Thankfully, our doctors and staff are trained to treat patients who experience dental anxiety/nervousness. We are there for you before, during and after your procedure to assure the utmost comfort and success. For extreme cases of dental anxiety, or for more extensive dental surgeries, we offer several sedation options, including IV sedation.

For many years, there were only two options available for people with missing teeth: bridges and dentures. Thankfully, today, dental implants are available as an alternative (and much better) option. At Natural Dentist Associates, we are a one-stop dental implant center. This means we will perform all dental implants procedures under one roof, including tooth extraction, implant surgery, and the implant crown. A dental implant works as an artificial tooth root, shaped like a tiny screw. This screw is surgically implanted into your jawbone. Through an “integration period,” this screw will bond with your natural bone, becoming a sturdy base to support one or more teeth (crowns). The way the dental implant fuses to your jawbone makes dental implants the strongest and best option for tooth replacement.

So, maybe your teeth are in great health. You brush and floss as recommended, see your dentist for routine care, haven’t had a cavity since you were 12. But, that daily cup of joe is making your pearly whites…not so pearly white. Or, you have stopped smiling in pictures because of “that one tooth” (you know the one). After all, we are all our own worst critics. Fortunately, the doctors at Natural Dentist Associates are trained to perform many cosmetic dental procedures, focusing on the natural and healthy smile you have always dreamed of. Cosmetic Dentistry refers to dental treatment that improves the appearance of teeth, gums and/or bite. A Cosmetic Dentist will evaluate your concerns and plan a Smile Makeover specific to your wants and needs. So, what’s stopping you from having pearly white teeth again? Schedule a consultation today and let’s give you a reason to smile in pictures again.

A dental appliance refers to any device that assists in your dental treatment plan. These appliances can be permanent or removable. Some dental appliances are designed to improve one specific function, while other appliances are multi-function. Some are worn during the day and others at night. A few appliances are worn for nearly 24 hours each day. All dental appliances made by Natural Dentist Associates are custom fitted to your teeth and mouth. During your consultation, your dentist will work with you to develop a plan of treatment tailored to your specific dental needs.

People who have Sleep Apnea (SA) stop breathing several times during the night. There are three types of sleep apnea: obstructive, central, and complex sleep apnea. Each Apnea is characterized by abnormal periodic cessation of breathing, though the cause of the apnea episode is different for each type of apnea. As dentists, we do not diagnose Sleep Apnea, but we can improve or cure sleep apnea through treatments available to re-develop the oral-facial structures and jawbones. Holistic Orthodontics use functional forces such as chewing and tongue pressure along with appliance therapy to promote proper facial development. Our unique sleep apnea correction includes co-treatment, where a dentist and a skilled (in-office) Physical Therapist work together to treat posture and breathing problems present throughout the body.

The goal of a Natural Orthodontist/Natural Orthodontics is to create balanced, healthy smiles while focusing on facial development or “space” for breathing and tongue position. At Natural Dentist Associates, we use the aid of natural forces such as the tongue, chewing forces and functional dental appliances that gently increase the size, balance, and shape of the jaws. Proper balance and space is what creates stability and helps to prevent the development of TMJ/TMD, Postural and Sleep Problems. Natural Orthodontists use treatments to create more room in the mouth for all of the teeth to fit more naturally. Treatment is centered around optimal oral-facial development and function.

TMJ (temporomandibular joints) are the joints that connect your jawbone to your skull. TMD (temporomandibular disorders) are disorders of the jaw muscles, TMJ, and/or the nerves associated. There are several symptoms of TMD, most of which involve some level of pain or discomfort in the jaw, head and/or neck. In many cases the cause of TMD is not so clear. Some patients have seen multiple professionals including Neurologists, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and ENT doctors. TMJ problems are often misdiagnosed as other conditions such as ear infection, sinus infection or chronic headaches. At Natural Dentist Associates, our unique approach to TMJ Therapy typically includes co-treatment by both a TMJ Dentist as well as an in-office Physical Therapist.

In the past, sedation has been available for dental surgery only. Here at Natural Dentist Associates, we are certified to provide sedation dentistry for all dental procedures. We offer many sedation options, from nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to full IV Sleep Sedation. Sedation dentistry is ideal for patients who experience anxiety or fear of the dentist, as well as patients who have extensive treatment recommendations and would like to complete a large amount of treatment in less office visits. IV sedative drugs can make treatments not just tolerable, but also comfortable and enjoyable. Patients of all ages feel no discomfort whatsoever during and after treatment.

Micro-needling is a therapy that naturally stimulates your skin to produce elastin, growth factors and collagen. It helps diminish wrinkles, acne scars, and pigmentation issues such as melasma and sunspots. At Natural Dentist Associates, we use an automated pen-like device that is comfortable, especially with the application of a topical numbing cream prior to your treatment. Micro-needling is a safe method of improving skin texture and tone with minimal downtime compared to alternate methods.

Medical marijuana is a plant-based medicine from the Cannabis Sativa or Cannabis Indica species with three major compounds: THC, CBD, and CBN. Humans have grown and consumed the flowering tops of the cannabis plant (collectively known as “marijuana”) for thousands of years. The chemicals produced by the plant have been shown to have beneficial side effects on several medical and dental conditions. There are many patients that do not respond well and/or have side effects from commonly prescribed medications for these conditions, where Medical Cannabis may provide an alternate treatment strategy.

Our doctors are registered advisors with the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission (MMCC). Patients who have registered with the MMCC can schedule an appointment for consultation and screening to determine their candidacy for medical cannabis therapies.

We primarily serve Rockville, North Bethesda, Silver Spring, Wheaton, Potomac, Washington DC, Gaithersburg, Kensington, Germantown, Burtonsville, Laurel, Columbia and Northern Virginia (Mclean, Tysons Corner, Great Falls, Arlington ) but people travel from all over the country for our specialty and holistic dental services.
